Raunt platform overview

Summary

Raunt is a personalised solution for preparing for university entry exams. It provides rich content, customised study plans, and student-specific guidance services from 9th grade to the end of 12th grade, improving the success of the target-specific exam during the university preparation process. The platform was developed under my leadership as the Head of Design at Turk Telecom, Turkey's leading internet service provider.

Aiming to revolutionise the educational landscape, Raunt offers a multidimensional learning environment tailored to students, teachers, and administrators' unique needs. By integrating 21st-century competencies into its design, the platform seeks to enhance users' overall learning experience and outcomes.

I led the design team of 50 members for more than nine years, encompassing UX/UI designers, 2D illustrators, 3D animators, and videographers. We worked on various projects across countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Jordan, Mexico, Chile, and the United States. This international collaboration enriched the platform with diverse perspectives, making it adaptable to different educational systems and cultures.

Through extensive user research and iterative design processes, we identified key pain points in traditional learning methods. Raunt addresses these challenges by providing personalised learning paths, interactive content, and tools that foster better engagement between students and teachers. The platform aligns with user needs and business objectives, ensuring a high-quality, scalable solution for university preparation.

Understand the problem

User Research and Empathy

Traditional university preparation methods often employ a one-size-fits-all approach, which fails to meet the diverse needs of individual students. In Turkey and many other countries, students face immense pressure to perform well in university entrance exams without access to personalized resources that cater to their strengths and weaknesses. Teachers also struggle with limited tools to provide individualized guidance, leading to disengagement and suboptimal learning outcomes.

To deeply understand these challenges, we conducted extensive user research involving interviews, surveys, and usability testing with students and teachers. This allowed us to gather insights into their experiences, identify pain points related to learning and teaching, and understand the requirements of public and private schools as well as school networks.

Defining the Core Issues

Our analysis highlighted that existing educational platforms lacked effective communication channels between students and educators, hindering collaborative learning. There was a clear need for a solution that could offer customized content, facilitate better interaction, and align with curriculum standards and educational goals. Understanding these core issues was crucial in defining the direction for Raunt's developmen

Ideation and Design

In response to these challenges, we developed Raunt as a comprehensive, personalized learning platform. The design process began with creating detailed user flows and information architecture to ensure intuitive navigation and accessibility. Using tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Axure RP, we developed wireframes and interactive prototypes that brought our concepts to life. This step was vital in visualizing how users would interact with the platform and in aligning the design with user needs, technical feasibility, and business objectives.

Prototyping and Collaboration

Collaboration was a cornerstone of our approach. We worked closely with instructional designers, product managers, developers, and educators to align the platform with curriculum requirements and pedagogical best practices. This multidisciplinary effort ensured that Raunt was both educationally effective and technologically robust. We also prepared documents for design and content standards to maintain consistency across the platform.

Testing and Iteration

We partnered with the "Human-Computer Interaction Research and Application Laboratory" of Middle East Technical University to validate our designs. The team conducted user testing in a lab environment using Tobii eye-tracking technology. These tests provided valuable interface usability feedback, allowing us to make data-driven improvements. By integrating accessibility standards, we ensured that Raunt was inclusive, catering to users with varying needs and abilities. The iterative process of testing and refining was crucial in enhancing user satisfaction and engagement.
