Cyberheads Cyber Security E-Learning Platform

Cyberheads Cyber Security E-Learning Platform

Project Scope

The Cyberheads Cyber Security E-Learning Platform was designed to address the challenge of low learner engagement in certification-based cybersecurity education. The platform supports career paths such as SOC Analyst and Security Engineer, incorporating gamified learning to boost motivation, improve retention, and guide learners through complex security concepts. It offers structured modules mapped to industry-recognised certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft SC200), enhanced by progress tracking, badges, leaderboards, and hands-on virtual labs simulating real-life cyber incidents.

Design Process

As Lead UX/UI Designer, I led the end-to-end design process using tools such as Figma, and Miro. Research included user interviews, surveys, and competitive analysis to uncover friction points in traditional cybersecurity training. We identified the need for higher interactivity, real-world applicability, and consistent feedback loops. Low-fidelity wireframes mapped the full learner journey, while high-fidelity prototypes focused on seamless integration of gamification elements into learning flows.

Key design solutions included a modular course interface with embedded challenges, a dynamic leaderboard system, and real-time feedback mechanisms. Azure Sentinel–based learning paths were also incorporated to simulate live incident response scenarios—bridging theoretical learning with practical, industry-relevant applications. Usability tests helped validate navigation logic, motivational triggers, and the clarity of progress indicators across learner types.

Results

Currently in MVP development, the platform presents a deeply considered and scalable approach to cybersecurity education. The design goes beyond surface-level gamification by embedding motivational mechanics into core learning flows—ensuring that badges, levels, and achievements support learner progression rather than distract from it. Azure Sentinel integration is a defining feature, allowing users to simulate investigations, analyse alerts, and navigate SOC workflows within a safe, guided environment. This connection not only enhances practical learning but also builds readiness for real-world analyst roles. The system architecture supports personalisation, collaboration, and adaptive feedback loops, transforming passive course consumption into an active, goal-oriented experience. The proposed solution balances depth, usability, and educational rigour—positioning Cyberheads as a next-generation learning platform for cybersecurity professionals.
