The system recognizes each student’s performance, tracks what they learn, to what extent and at the same time maintains a calendar and course plan for schools. This platform follows and guides the user closely, tracks performance continuously and compensates for any missing competencies in a timely fashion with the Smart Recommendation System. These unparalleled functions integrated digital and print material leads the students to their targets systematically. Results-oriented university preparation solution provides functionalities not only for students but also for teachers, school leaders, and parents.

The Challenge

University exams are highly competitive in Turkey. Every year, almost 2.500.000 students enter the exam on the same day and most of these students haven’t got a chance to enter their preferred departments.  The also creates a highly competitive market for private schools and course centres. Most of these course centres give their educational services in crowded classrooms. This reduces the quality of education.

Students are responsible for almost all lesson topics from grade 9th to 12th. This also creates an incredible amount of cognitive weight and psychological pressure on students and their families. University and program selection, preparation to exam according to their selections and calculation of the results have a complex structure. Most of the families and students apply to get assistance from their teachers or advisors for making the right program selection.

Another struggle is related to the inconsistent and unstable policies of the Ministry of Education. Curriculum, distribution of the number of questions among lessons every year. This creates uncertainty among educational sector professionals, private schools, and families.

In this fuzzy environment, we aimed to create a system that is sustainable and reliable while requiring easy maintenance against unexpected changes in university exam policies and curriculum modifications.

My Role

My responsibility was with the help of my design team and other partners (school teachers, students) in the project, driving design tasks from holding meetings with stakeholders, capturing requirements, turn them into user flows, wireframes, mockups and final delivery of UI elements and providing design guidelines.

The Raunt project has required digital content production and I also set up a production pipeline for creating this content seamlessly and defined design guidelines, templates and visual standards for this production. I also worked closely with marketing teams and gave support to their marketing activities.

I was also working with marketing and sales teams for supporting their activities by providing user personas and insights about teachers and students challenges. Our smart solutions against these problems were our unique selling points. Continuously assessing students and providing instant reports and direction to curriculum subjects created a strong solution for students who can only focus on their weaknesses. By this way, students save time and have an effective way of studying exams

I worked with internal and external stakeholders in order to understand the detailed structure of the exam preparation process and struggles that students face off. There are numerous meetings held with the teachers who are actively working in the exam preparation classes in order to create user segmentation and use case scenarios. These scenarios quickly turn into interactive mockups and tested with guerilla tests.

Problems and Solutions

The product included digital materials and printed materials at the same time and we have to amalgamate these different mediums in the same user journey. Creating complex algorithms that follow students progress and creates customized content playlists for each student and change these list instantly was another challenge for us. Content players, online exams, teacher presentations, connection with books, complex reporting functions are just some struggle that we have to deal with.

We focused on personas and create a user journey of each user type and prepared flow diagrams in order to see the big picture. Because of the size of the environment we created and the high potential user number, each portion of the system includes complex scenarios and can be released an individual product. That’s why we carefully created a series of mockups in order to make user test with our external stakeholders.

Impacts

The product is started to be used by more than 15 school networks and reached almost 60.000 students in the first year after its release and get lots of positive feedback from users, families, and teachers.
